Dr. Kristel Schamber
Optometrist
“I became an optometrist because at an early age, wearing glasses and contacts enabled me to do the things I loved better-which was mostly sports! Now, everyday I get to help people see what matters to them-whether it be the big buck, their child or grandchild or to be more comfortable at the computer. The smile on the child who is able to see so much better with their first pair of glasses. The excitement when someone gets their new updated eyewear. These are a couple of my favorite things that happen in the office.I am very grateful to have the team that we have at Lakes Area Eyecare. We have fun but we get the job done efficiently.” Dr. Schamber is from Pipestone, MN and attended University of MN-Morris. She then attended Illinois College of Optometry for graduate school. After working 10 years in Marshall, MN she and her family moved to the BLA with her family. She and her husband Ben have 3 girls and a German shorthair.
Dr. Brooke Fenstad
Optometrist
Dr. Brooke Fenstad joined the Lakes Area Eyecare team in November of 2015. She moved to the area with her husband Dr. Eric Fenstad from Rochester with their 4 children. She is also a MN native and is a graduate of the College of St. Benedict and received her doctorate from Pacific University College of Optometry.
Greg Olson
Optician
“I love working with patients, doctors and co-workers to create a great experience for all. I get a sense of satisfaction when I can make, fix, repair and adjust eyewear. Most of all, I love helping patients find the perfect pair of eyewear hopefully with a little flair for those that want to be daring." Greg has done extensive training in all aspects of optical since 1980 and has been with Lakes Area Eyecare since it opened in 1997. He has been married to his wife Sandy for over 40 years and has 3 daughters, 2 grandchildren and 1 grandpuppy. He enjoys camping, fishing, snowmobiling, golfing and racing.
Ellen Kraling
Optometric Assistant

Dr. Schamber, Dr. Fenstad and Greg and Theresa are my work family and I am blessed to call them friends. If you have been to our office then you know there is a lot of fun and laughter." Ellen is our smiling face at the front desk that usually greets you. She wears several hats in the office from checking patients in to helping the doctors with pretesting and specialized testing. She keeps the office organized and running smoothly! She is married to her high school sweetheart, Scott, and they have 3 children and 4 grandchildren. In her spare time she enjoys visiting her family and is an avid Twins and Vikings fan.
Theresa Van't Hul

“Helping others is something I have always loved to do, plus I get to help people with something very important-their eyes. I moved to this area in the spring of 2018 and was so fortunate to become part of the Lakes Area Eyecare team. These are wonderful people I have the pleasure of working with. I honestly love coming to work every day.“I have been working in this profession for over 25 year and enjoy it more and more every year. This is a job that is very satisfying because I am able to do so many different tasks and no two days are ever the same.” Theresa has been an optician for over 25 years. She enjoys boating, campfires, going to concerts, and spending time with her dogs.
